Pendant created by *balthasarcraft If you wish to see more of her work please visit her dA page. She sells her pendants as well as offering trades.
I received the pendant as part of a trade. In exchange for pendants I make custom jewelry for her. You can see all the pieces made in these trades on my front page. I have an entire widget with each of them.
Now this may come as a shocker, but this piece isn't up for sale. *balthasarcraft made it abundantly clear this pendant must be made into a piece just for me. It is now the...eighth piece I have in my own personal collection. I've made hundreds of pieces of jewelry, but less than a dozen are for myself. It's a miracle I keep any of them. Why? So many of my creations are too pretty for me to keep. I want someone else to purchase it and wear it. This choker, however, is not available for purchase. ALL MINE!!! Muahahahahaha!!! I also made a match bracelet with bells, and will have that posted shortly.
Ahem.
I used transparent copper square cut silver middle seed beads in size 6 (I use only size six because it's what fits the cords I use), pink-ish copper colored glass pearls (6 mm, which is the standard size of round beads I use), cotton cord NOT HEMP, and of course the beautiful pendant.
The pendant made me think of old fairy tales, not the Disney-fied versions. Something from the old days, a story that teaches a lesson but also fills the imagination with another world. The colors are very romantic, and also struck a cord with the Dune fanatic in me. Like a desert sunset. With this I wanted to make the piece look like it had bursts of sunshine coming over the edges of sand dunes, and allow the visual texture to provide the most drama.
For those interested this was made using five cords folded over to make ten, and I used an alternating square knot pattern. Between the pearls are five half knots. Around each pearl I have five beads, then seven beads. Enough to provide a curve without warping.
Originally I wanted to have the pendant set up high like it's embedded in the choker, but the choker and pendant design didn't mesh well for that. The bead in the center of the pendant pushed it forward, and I had no way of binding the bottom of it without compromising the pendant itself. I made a change to the center of the design by putting beads on top of the choker but not on the bottom. I didn't want to overwhelm the pendant.
If you want something similar to this please contact me via note. I accept commissions and will be more than happy to make a custom piece for you.

Lovely, as always. The bracelet is gorgeous, as well. I love that your work and *balthasarcraft's so often combine. Two great artists who make great art together!
You're going to be forced to keep another for yourself btw. But I won't say more than that, because it's a surprise But I just got the stone to wrap that I was looking for.
WOW. That is so awesome! That's one of my very favourites from you! And it's YOURS!
That pendant was actually inspired by one of my OCs: [link] The tall lady on the left. Your description of how the pendant makes you feel is very close to how her story makes me feel too. So that's awesome.
Rose (the OC) was born to nobility and had an easy, pleasant, but lonely life until she assumed the throne. I won't go into massive detail as to why this was a very bad thing, but suffice to say that she found out her family's reign was built on lies and that they were manipulated by evil forces. With the help of her family's arch enemy, she managed to kill the demon which drove the city's affairs. By the end of these events, there was no city, she came very near death and spent some time comatose, and after waking up she retired to a quiet life in the country with a lieutenant she fell in love with. She was much happier with her simple life on his family farm than she was in her palace with all the politics.
So like you said, fairytale, but a kind of reverse fairytale, where happiness came from love and simplicity, and not from the gilded lie of palace life. I saw the pendant as encapsulating fading memories of a false existence, and beauty coming from time, age and experience.
